At the 20<\/span>th<\/span> edition of the Mutua Madrid Open, with RTVE as host broadcaster once again, tennis lovers were able to enjoy exquisite coverage from the Caja M\u00e1gica, where the best tennis players in the world were strutting their stuff on the clay.<\/span><\/p>\n

With almost 90 hours of live broadcasts over the 12 days of competition, and the spotlight on the biggest matches each day, RTVE once again offered comprehensive coverage of the event. With analysis programmes before and after matches from figures such as Anabel Medina, \u00c0lex Corretja, Vivi Ruano and Dani Mu\u00f1oz de la Nava, viewers were treated to the best punditry around.<\/span><\/p>\n

The strength of Spanish women\u2019s tennis generated a huge impact on RTVE, where players such as Paula Badosa, Garbi\u00f1e Muguruza, Sara Sorribes and Nuria P\u00e1rrizas attracted almost 1.5 million fans, making last year\u2019s event one of the most attractive to followers of the Spanish <\/span>Armada<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a tournament replete with jaw-dropping moments, Carlos Alcaraz was a magnet for audiences. His long-awaited duel with Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals was one of the biggest attractions for fans. In total, 1,644,000 viewers followed the historic match on La 1. Subsequently, the clash between the Murcia native and Novak Djokovic in the semis reached over 2 million people, demonstrating a growing interest in Juan Carlos Ferrero\u2019s pupil.<\/span><\/p>\n

The viewing figures continued to soar until Alcaraz\u2019s win over Alexander Zverev in the Mutua Madrid Open final drew the biggest audience. The match was watched by 2,645,000 viewers (25.8%) on La 1, where the following programme attracted 2,817,000 (26.5%). The broadcast achieved the day\u2019s peak viewing minute at 19:42, with 3,351,000 viewers, making it the schedule leader (18.4%).<\/span><\/p>\n

A fortnight of fantastic coverage was capped off when that match attracted the largest audience in Mutua Madrid Open history, reaffirming the 2022 edition as the most followed ever on La 1. Over 4.5 million people watched the men\u2019s final of the tournament at some point.<\/span><\/p>\n
