Babolat: the official stringer at the 2023 Mutua Madrid Open

Leading tennis racket and equipment brand Babolat continues to grow and to support this sport. The French company has maintained its relationship with the Mutua Madrid Open, acting as the tournament’s Official Stringer once again this year.

On the premises of the Caja Mágica, Babolat will have 14 stringers from around the world (French, English, Swiss, Japanese and, of course, Spanish) operating 13 stringing machines to provide stringing services during the Mutua Madrid Open, which takes place from 24 April to 7 May. In 2022, 2,064 rackets were carefully fitted out at the hands of the Babolat stringers.

The history of the French company follows a path parallel to the growth of tennis around the world. In 1875, Pierre Babolat invented the first VS natural gut strings for tennis rackets. Since then, a moment that marked the birth of tennis, Babolat has left an indelible mark on history.

VS consolidated its reputation on all playing surfaces and all over the world. Aware of the requirements on court, Paul Babolat understood that Babolat players needed new sources of inspiration. Having passionately observed the demands of the world’s best players, in 1955 Paul created Elascord, Babolat’s first synthetic string. It allowed players to better adapt their strings to the characteristics of the playing surface.

Babolat has been stringing since the 1970s, when it invented the electronic stringing machine. Today, the innovative nature that always underlies its services continues to make it a pioneer in tennis.
