The Mutua Madrid Open announced on Friday the second season of Iguales, the acclaimed daily podcast that was introduced in 2023 as one of the biggest new features of the event.
Presented by Jaime Álvarez ‘Gravesen’, a professional eSports player, Iguales was conceived with the idea of exploring a new format as part of the wide range of entertainment on offer at the Mutua Madrid Open, and it quickly became a must listen for tennis lovers, as well as new audiences whose interest was piqued by the innovative style of the interviews.
Following in the footsteps of many of the big American and European podcasts, ‘Gravesen’ employed a light-hearted and flowing interview style, touching on topics outside the world of sport such as personal tastes in music, gastronomy and fashion. The approach produced up close and personal conversations with the stars of the ATP and WTA tours.
The first season of Iguales included 14 episodes featuring tennis superstars such as Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Coco Gauff, Holger Hune and Paula Badosa.
“The format worked really well, although there’s always that fear of what might happen with a first season,” said ‘Gravesen’. “The players were really nice and talking to them in a tennis environment about something other than tennis really allowed them to open up. That’s an important factor. I hope to continue with the vibe from last year and create a different product.”
Iguales will be recorded daily in the Caja Mágica on the spectacular set that amazed the interviewees and spectators alike last year with its modern and bold design. The video podcast will be exclusively available on the Mutua Madrid Open YouTube channel, as well as being available in audio on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and iVoox.
The 2024 Mutua Madrid Open will take place at the Caja Mágica from 22 April to 5 May.
