Leading tennis racket, strings and equipment brand Babolat will continue its collaboration with the Mutua Madrid Open as its Official Stringer for the third consecutive year at the 2024 competition.
Babolat’s official racket preparation service will be provided by a team of international specialists who prepare the rackets of the best players on the ATP and WTA Tours, in strict and meticulous compliance with their demands. No fewer than 16 stringing machines and 16 stringers of six different nationalities will be present throughout the tournament, which takes place from 22 April to 5 May. In 2023 at the event, Babolat strung over 3,414 tennis rackets for professional tour players.
Since Pierre Babolat invented natural gut strings in 1875, one year after the rules of tennis were established, the brand has never stopped innovating, leaving its indelible mark on the history of the sport. In 1925, Albert, having taken over from his father, created the benchmark VS. A natural, revolutionary string, it was made famous by the French tennis “Musketeers” (Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, René Lacoste and Henri Cochet) and Suzanne Lenglen. The reputation of the VS strings extended to every playing surface and every region of the world. With a front row seat for the evolution of tennis, to increase the range of products, Paul Babolat continued to innovate to provide players with a material that was increasing in quality and becoming more affordable. In 1955 he created “Elascord”, the brand’s first synthetic (nylon) string. The innovation allowed players to adapt their strings to their particular style of play.
The launch of the RPM Blast in 2010, an innovative, octagonal, black monofilament string, consolidated Babolat’s dominance of the string market, allowing players like Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz to put more spin on the ball and gain depth. The leader in the sector of monofilament strings, designed for advanced players, Babolat also innovates for club players with products such as its latest addition to the range, Xalt (2023): a multifilament string with patented technology that provides exceptional comfort with every shot.
Babolat, one of the main players in the racket sports sector, also invented the first electric stringing machine in the 70s. Always focused on innovation, the company remains at the cutting edge of tennis and continues to participate in the biggest tournaments on the professional tour.
