Madrid Trophy Promotion, Ávoris, NH Collection Hotels and the Madrid City Council, unite to promote the city as a sports destination

Madrid Trophy Promotion, NH Collection Hotels & Resorts and Ávoris Corporación Empresarial have joined forces to sign a strategic agreement with the Madrid City Council that will boost the visibility and appeal of the Spanish capital as a sports destination for two of the biggest tennis and golf events of the world: the Mutua Madrid Open and the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid.

By means of this joint agreement, an exclusive package is available to tourists visiting the city for attending one of the two sports events. With the institutional backing of the Madrid City Council, NH Collection Hotels & Resorts will provide first-rate accommodation. Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, as a global tourism operator, will be responsible for managing the transport through its specialist agency BCD Sports. For its part, Madrid Trophy Promotion, the organiser of the Mutua Madrid Open and the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, will guarantee exclusive access to the two internationally renowned sports events.

The presentation, called Tourist Destination: Mutua Madrid Open & ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, was held at tourism trade fair Fitur 2024. It included the participation of Héctor Coronel, the Madrid City Council’s director of tourism; Sonia Cea, the Madrid City Council’s Sports Delegate; Juan Miguel Morales, the general director of retail at Ávoris Corporación Empresarial; Hugo Rovira, the general director of the NH Hotel Group, part of Minor Hotels, in Southern Europe; Gerard Tsobanian, CEO of the Mutua Madrid Open and the Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid; and Feliciano López, tournament director.

Regarding this agreement with the Mutua Madrid Open, Juan Miguel Morales, general director of retail at Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, said: “the expansion of the collaboration between Ávoris and Madrid Trophy Promotion, to include NH Collection Hotels & Resorts and the Madrid City Council, show that the agreement we have in force is a fruitful one. We are so happy to have the chance to strengthen this, to everyone’s benefit. As leaders in the tourism sector, we’re proud to support a sports event of this magnitude and international renown”.

Hugo Rovira, the general director of the NH Hotel Group, part of Minor Hotels, in Southern Europe, explained: “We’re very happy to form part of this alliance, as a hotel chain known for its quality, as we have the greatest number of hotels across the capital and in its surroundings. All of them are designed to offer a comprehensive experience that combines comfort, an ideal location, premium services, and a leading range of cuisine.

“For this agreement, we’ve selected various hotels with unbeatable locations from our NH Collection and NH Hotels brands, as well as our first Avani Hotels location in Spain, the Avani Alonso Martínez. This alliance is a clear commitment to Madrid as a destination”.

Gerard Tsobanian, CEO of the Mutua Madrid Open and the ACCIONA Open de España presented by Madrid, added: “One of our goals is to continue to attract international spectators to both events. Although the figure is already quite high, we’re confident that this agreement, which is so valuable and important, will boost it, favouring tourism and bolstering attendance at our two events”.

For a few weeks now, over 1,500 travel agencies in the Ávoris Corporación Empresarial network have been offering packages to attend the two events, organising the entire trip, while NH Collection Hotels provides high-quality accommodation at its properties, along with hotels from the NH Hotels and Avani Hotels brands.
