Once again the Mutua Madrid Open held its traditional Players Party, an event which brought together some of the biggest tennis players, who will compete in the tournament, as well as other tennis and sports celebrities.

The party, which took place at the Kapital theatre, was a chance for the stars of the coming week to take some time out and relax. All of them were able to enjoy the chilled atmosphere and have some fun, which will be sure to give them a boost to face the challenges ahead.

The red (or in this case blue) carpet at the famous Madrid venue was graced by, among others, defending champions Simona Halep and Novak Djokovic, as well as other players such as Stan Wawrinka, Caroline Wozniacki, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, David Goffin and local player Feliciano López. Also in attendance were Manolo Santana, Director of the Mutua Madrid Open, and Gerard Tsobanian, tournament CEO and President.

A crowd of fans gathered at the door, jostling to see their heroes close up and take a selfie with them. In addition, the glamorous event, which included a spectacular light and sound show and some words from the aforementioned Halep and Djokovic, was covered by a number of media agencies. The welcome party marks the definitive start of this year’s Mutua Madrid Open, the sixteenth, which promises to be even more spectacular than in previous seasons.
