Red Bull Bassline shook up the Caja Mágica with a barnstorming show to the kick off the 2023 Mutua Madrid Open. An Arantxa Sánchez Vicario Stadium packed to the rafters hosted one of the most-hotly anticipated events in the Spanish capital, where sport and entertainment came together to produce an unforgettable evening.
A number of star players, including three members of the ATP Top 10, provided tennis fans with a different way to enjoy the sport. Names such as Feliciano López, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sebastian Korda, Andrey Rublev, Dominic Thiem, Frances Tiafoe, Martín Landaluce and Casper Ruud made up the first-class field competing in the spectacular event.
The revolutionary format, in which entertainment is paramount and fans are part of the show, Red Bull brought its own brand of fun to the Caja Mágica. The music provided a vibrant backing for the best-of-three tiebreak matches, which proved to be intense affairs where every point was pushed to its limits.
Rublev proved a perfect fit for the lightning format, with the DJ’s intense beats setting the pace from the first shot. Andrey was crowned champion and took the spoils in the grand finale much to the delight of the crowds enjoying a party that lasted into the Madrid night.
It was a completely open and spontaneous evening, where silence in the stands was strictly prohibited, the rules were merely a suggestion on court, and improvisation reigned at one of the biggest venues on the professional tour. The revolutionary event provided a completely new way of experiencing live tennis.
