APRIL 20 - 3 MAY 2026

We already have our first two ‘finalists’ at the 2026 Mutua Madrid Open

The tennis has only just got underway at the 2026 Mutua Madrid Open, and already two ‘finalists’ have been confirmed. They do not wield a racket or appear in the draw, but Miguel and Óscar García have already secured their place at the tournament’s big weekend.

The two friends were the first to enter the Caja Magica on Monday at 09:30 in the morning after waiting for several hours. However, their patience was rewarded twice over.

As has become tradition in recent years, Feliciano López welcomed the first fan to enter the tournament and handed him two tickets for the men’s final, to be played on 3 May. The big difference this year was the other half of the prize: Garbiñe Muguruza, joining the tournament as co-director for the first time, also joined the welcome committee and handed over two tickets for the women’s final, scheduled for 2nd May.

Thus, Miguel and Óscar were not only the first through the gates, they were also the first of this year’s prize-winners, with an added detail that seemed almost scripted; both share the surname, García.

Having waited for hours at the gates of the venue, the two friends received their just reward in a now-traditional scene to kick off the tournament, this time with a new photo: Feliciano and Garbiñe together, welcoming and smiling with the first fans at the 2026 Mutua Madrid Open.

The tournament has only just begun, but they already know where they’ll be when the crucial moment arrives. In a way, the Mutua Madrid Open already has its first two finalists.
