Mutua Madrid Open to host Alcaraz foundation exhibition ‘Moving through childhood’

The Mutua Madrid Open will feature the ‘Moving through childhood’ exhibition, a concept that reaches beyond tennis and encourages reflection on opportunities in childhood, illustrated through Carlos Alcaraz’s personal and sporting journey.

‘Moving through childhood’, located in the Caja Magica, is an exhibition designed to prompt reflection on the importance of opportunities during childhood, a decisive stage in every person’s development.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through Carlos Alcaraz’s life, his growth as a person and an athlete, his role models, and some of his most notable achievements, with the aim of highlighting the key factors that influence children’s development and emphasising the importance of supporting them so they can reach their full potential.

‘Moving through childhood’ is an adaptation of the exhibition ‘Feet on the ground’, held last year in Murcia, which will soon be visiting other Spanish cities. The version presented in Madrid has been specifically designed for the Mutua Madrid Open’s venue, maintaining the essence and message of the original exhibition with a relaxed, playful, and experiential product.

Visitors will be able to see various objects linked to Alcaraz’s career, such as racquets, kit, trainers, and trophies from his childhood, as well as the Grand Slam titles. In addition, there will be other surprising items that allow a closer look at his story from a human and social perspective.

The exhibition is based around three key concepts. Firstly, it highlights some of the main factors that shape childhood development, such as environment, education, and health. Secondly, it highlights the importance of role models, individuals who can inspire and show that different realities are possible when opportunities arise. Lastly, it encourages visitors to reflect on the concept of success; what does it truly mean to succeed and what does it represent for each person?

“This exhibition offers an opportunity to remember how childhood shapes each of our lives. I encourage you to come and discover what we have created”, said Carlos Alcaraz, president of the foundation.

For her part, Garbiñe Muguruza, co-director of the Mutua Madrid Open, highlighted the value of hosting such an initiative as part of the tournament: “For the Mutua Madrid Open, it is an honour to provide space for an exhibition with such a vital and inspiring message. Sport can also be a tool for reflection, education, and creating opportunities, and this exhibition connects in a very special way with those values”.

The ‘Moving through childhood” exhibition can be visited on Level -2 of the Mutua Madrid Open throughout the tournament, from 20 April to 3 May 2026, from opening time until 20:00.
